BG Flag Takeover cheat with Jade Serpent Statue

Just played "Eye of the Storm" BG and experienced something very odd. I came to one of the towers to convert it. It was full on opposite and i was all alone there so eventually the marker made a little jump but then it went back. Like there where 2 invisible opposite players overruling me. But all there was, was a Jade Serpent Statue. Later i noticed there was one at every tower and they all where in opposite hands.

So

# do they really "count" as takeover force?
# double a player?(it clearly had more force then me alone)
# is it cheating to place them like that?
# is this game mechanic blizzlike?

I don't think this is the correct place to report such a bug.
