Hey all! I've been playing Fire mage for a long time but recently i've been told to change Fire to Arcane. Is there any noticable difference in DPS and what you prefer to play?
U will get boring fast with arcane u can change and u will see why and fire is by far best spec on cata mage.
Fire is not anymore a best spec since they "killed" Fire Mage. 410 ilvl Mage can barely do 40-50k combust and normal dps is around 24-25k dps.
You can stay Fire but don't expect superb DPS. Arcane is now top DPS.

yy they just fixed gamebreaking bugs ******, and if u are doing only 24-25k dps with 410ilv fire mage than u suck a lot. still got 60k stable on dummy l2pQuote:

The thing is it's not just me. Just go on dummies and ask mages how much DPS they make. They will all tell you that they barely make 25k dps if all.
Well im doin 26-27k with 391 without tier bonus yet... i was never playing fire cos of bug, neather i was stacking mastery ( no sense for doin that), im play fire cos its funnier then 2 button spec...
2 button spec? arcane is quite hard in end game raiding cuz u must manage your mana to do maximum dmg whole fight+using your shields to get highest SP bonus from your talent and many more things, its not some ******ed button smashing like it used to be in wotlkQuote:

Well i don't know what you mean by fix, but it's far from being fixed now. Fire is unplayable right now, unless you want to stop on carrying people in rdf normals with full bis gear. We had our best mages in guild test it, and holding 40k on dummies with full bis gear on 5kk damage done is almost a miracle. I understand that ignite was terribly bugged before, but now it's as if it was completely turned off and was put to 0 and it's being called a 'fix'. Nonetheless flying on alysrazor is also a really good test and guess what, ignite won't go higher than 89k, so i assume there's been a limit put on ignite too. But you won't be able to reach such ignite in any normal means either way, 10 crits in a row and 40k ignite. I'm playing mage since 2010 on molten, then warmane, but truthfully mages were never in such a sad state as they are now. Shame but it's better to pick another class for now cause arcane can pull quite high damage but it can't be compared to top dpsers and it's really boring.

It's not combustion, it's ignite with mastery. And believe me it's not l2p issue, if you have a mage try on dummies selfbuffed, if you're lucky you will hold 40k :PQuote:

Ignite has been taken to **** by bad scripting. If you crit before ignite ticks, it should add up. Atm, you can crit 3 times in a row before the first tick and your combustion dmg will be **** due that ignite is not calculating all 3 crits. For you to see a decent ignite when you crit twice or 3 times in a row, you will have to let ignite drop to 1/2 seconds or 2 seconds duration to be able to combust.
I have confirmation from Green_Dev that ignite is not working as it should still. They fixed the ignite bug that allowed mages to stack ignite even after so many ticks, but now they have broken it making it worst then blizz like ignite. I wish proper testing was done before doing such things, but hey I never see testing before hotfixes or fixes in general.... leave it to luck.
