Is 5-toon multibox exploiting allowed, because it's everywhere

Multiboxing is becoming a big problem - I see players with 5 Shamans in /follow everywhere, even level 80s.
If this sort of thing is supported, I'd like to know. It feels like exploits shouldn't be allowed, but I haven't heard a clear word on this.

I've seen 4 players today who have 5 Shamans following them, with bot-like names like "sheeva" "teeva" "beeva" "leeva", or "foyo" "doyo" "hoyo" "zoyo" etc.

Is there any care about this issue, or is this that kind of server rule-wise? Multiboxing 1 character happens a lot but I didn't expect to see the lordaeron moderators support 5-toon multiboxing. It makes things feel very unmoderated in areas where moderation is needed. How does a level 8- layer bring up 5 Shaman to level 80 while multiboxing, and not get reported or found out?

Multiboxing is allowed and it's not exploiting. It might change on Lordaeron but it's not decided yet. Those are not bot-like names. It's how multiboxers usually name their chars.

So it's understood population bloat and many issues come from this gameplay-wise, right? It also makes the concept of 'rules' and 'standards' on this server seem non existent, which makes me hesitate to financially support this server.

With the population on this server, there's a ridiculous amount of multiboxing and makes this server sadly feel like any other f2p mmo with gold farmers. It really turns this server from "wow, what a great high-pop server" to "gold farmers literally everywhere". This is the first big private server I've been a part of that feels this way. The amount of multiboxers is staggering, and makes this server not feel at all like WoW.

On a pvp server especially, multiboxing is clearly exploitative. I understand why it's allowed - low bar - but that low bar comes with a cost. This is not WoW as I remember it, it's a private farming server and 6v1 ganking server. I really want to be clear how many players I constantly come across who are multiboxing, it makes it pointless to not multibox especially when they can gank anybody because 6>1.

So, are we supposed to be multiboxing too? That's the only solution I can find for myself, let me know if this is the recommendation by the moderators.

I don't know about Lordaeron but on other realms there are not that many multiboxers. It should not make a big difference in population.

Gameplay-wise a multiboxer with 5 chars can't do more than a group of with 5 players could.

Edit: multiboxing is allowed on retail so it's allowed here also. It's not botting. All those chars are controlled by a human, there is just an extra program that sends key presses to the other WoW clients.

Other realms don't have lordaeron's population. Neither do other servers. Zones don't grow with population size, meaning the amount of farmers you get on a 7k server have to fit into the same zones as on a 1k server.

It has a big impact and cheapens the experience, whereas it's barely noticeable on other private servers and retail servers.

Let me give you my two cents. Very back and forth, and I hope you don't take what I say the wrong way.

First of all you mentioned multiboxing one character. That isn't even possible as you're not multiboxing with just one character. Second of all, you're missing the downside to multiboxing compared to not.

Sure, the multiboxer can beat you down if you're unlucky enough to get caught alone. But remember, they can't move seperately with eas like a normal group of people can. They can send their characters in different directions but the lack of control completely ruins it as a whole. And then there's the limitations in how to maximize the damage and use of proccs and cooldown. Even a good multiboxer can go only so far. Also, multiboxing is accepted on Blizzards servers because they realize it's a handicap, not an exploit or unfair advantage. It's not done to get an advantage over other players, but to provide a challenge for the person behind the keyboard.

You have to think about what happends if you meet five seperate players, is that not the same deal? You stand less of a chance against them than a multiboxer.

Got caught by one? Go afk as a ghost, do some real life stuff, and wait for them to leave if they're camping your corpse.

If you're making a complaint about this because you got killed, may I suggest next time you calm yourself down - get away from the game - before you make such accusations against us.

It's not about slaughters or kills, it's about the server's integrity and climate. Any farming-overrun online mmo doesn't feel good to pay for, which is why they're free. It's because farming affects the gameplay experience as well as the feel of the community. It cheapens the gaming experience and has made me and my friends who I've introduced to Lordaeron question whether they really want to financially support this server. "This doesn't seem worth paying for, it's a farming server" is what they tell me.

The staff works so hard and needs financial support to keep things running. They need donors who feel this is a place worth investing in and caring about, but the focus on farming and the number of farmers make "don't bother paying for this" pop into our gaming group's heads constantly.
And we're from other private servers too - MBing is not nearly as prevalent or game-impacting. It's not your independent fault.

We want to become donors, but this server is flooded with farmers unlike retail and other private servers. We've never felt the desire to pay for a game that has a big farming problem. We like the population here, and we want it to feel worth paying for, but no game with such a farming problem feels good to pay for. Other private servers in my experience had exploiters as well, but they were few and far between. Not on lordaeron - that's the problem. It negatively affects gameplay, and thus makes me search harder for reasons to donate.

Thanks for the kind reply though, I have nothing against multiboxers. The problem is the number of them here and how it makes this server feel cheap, when I don't think it should.

I don't think that has anything to do with multiboxing. Multiboxers don't usually farm. And even if they did, they have 5 chars at the same place, which would not make a big difference from farming with 1 char.

If you are talking about botting then it's not allowed and can be reported.

Yep, botting is definitely bannable.

Many of the current multiboxers are, in my opinion, merely temporary. They saw it, want to give it a shot but realize they aren't good at it, and give up. However, I don't play on Lordaeron because I feel I want to give people a chance to play their game before I get into it. Plus I want to make sure Warmane gives us an all clear first.

I agree with anyone0 though, it sounds more like actual bots or someone who might be using botting software aswell as a multiboxing software to do bad things.

Oh and I also think alot about if a multiboxer enjoys the server and wants to help, they typically donate on more than one account. That's pretty good.

multiboxing is allowed here, if it bothers you that much than feel free to find another server to play on.

Multiboxers in Pvp are just bad players who can't beat people one on one, every one knows that.I personally think it's funny I never see them win bg,s on rag let them play.

I'm a multiboxer myself, Used to play 5 to 20 characters LIVE - I moved to free servers because my time is limited, and i really enjoyed WOTLK - it also helps me to relax after work for few hours- now as far farming, multiboxers usually dont farm. they do quests, which requires to do on all characters and be completed, think about playing single guy, you have to do 5 times same quest , depends on a quest, unless its a slain quest. still it takes some time and dedication to level all to 80 (as wotlk server) multiboxing is not that easy as some people may think it is, we use legal program called ISBOXER - which we pay for it.

I see people getting banned left and right (you know RED popup) people that actually cheat.

Why do we even multibox? its a hobby really. we do not level to stay @ spot and farm alliance or horde. vice versa.

While leveling (me at level 67 atm) I got wiped so many times its not even funny, some people think its easy ones they see you at level 80 flying around. trust me its not on PvP servers. *you get camped to death* and its fine. you go afk and do some things IRL.

Think about multiboxer as one big guild. that have 5 to 20 characters online and they do same questing, instance runs , etc.

Now the only problem as I could see (as multiboxer myself) for example standing in stormwind and wiping people over and over, guards , etc. so people cant turn their quests in, etc, same thing could be as a guild with 20 players online rushing through ORG.

I think all it boils down to is, if a multiboxer begins griefing a player or players in an area - that's not the same as a normal player (one character) doing such. Griefing is not against the rule because it's just world pvp, but a multiboxer doing so is imo a different case entirely. Would you guys agree? I think that's fair, I have nothing against multiboxers who don't do this
