with all these continuing ddos attacks why hasn't law enforcement been brought to bare?
im sorry for 4mths straight mths now all we hear is ddos attack over and over and still no one has called law enforcement?> really?
if law enforcement has not been called I seriously question the ddos attacks
You forget that we're a private server, but before that we're also a company. Why would you call the police when you have no idea of who could be behind these attacks? These attacks are done by some *****s out there who most likely run other private servers, their reason is a stupid as the attack itself, they're either jealous or just want to "take down" the realms so Warmane's players split up among those other private servers.Quote:

I don't think a private server is as bad or even illegal. Do you think Blizzard is that stupid and doesn't know about this server? They know and I'm almost 100% sure there's some sort of deal between the companies.Quote:

private servers are illegal, blizzard just doesn't seem to care. my point was it would be stupid to get the cops involved when what your doing isn't legal in the first place.Quote:

Guys, one thing you're forgetting is that Warmane doesn't distribute or sell the GAME itself. They sell the services to play on it's servers which can be used for WoW.
What Intellectual property? That would be like saying that the website and programs that run these servers were made by Blizzard, and in fact, they weren't. The use of images on other hand could be an issue if you do not give any copyright, same as distributing the game but they're just distributing a Blizzard's outdated game without saying it's theirs. So in fact, they're not selling nothing that could affect Blizzard's company. Warmane doesn't sell stuff, they accept donations which in fact are... donations?), they provide links to download something that Blizzard does provide links too (Blizzard lets you freely download Wow, but there are layers that stop you from playing if you don't buy the game), all this means that they're not infricting any intellectual property law.
Peyton's case was dealed very differently, Blizzard took that case because they knew they could've won on the short-time, but people that run private servers have learned how to "evade" Peyton's mistakes what makes it quite hard for Blizzard to take any legal action which wouldn't be pricey and would lead to a very long and stupid case without having it clear that they can win.
Private servers also promote playing WoW to certain point and somehow works as free publicity for them, which could've another reason for why Blizzard doesn't take legal actions.
Please, do not take this comments from me as something that is happening but my opinion about what could've happening.
The main problem is not the grey area status of the Private Servers (Yes Blizz knows. But Blizz allows it because it brings them some revenue in the form of a player trying out the private servers and then switching to retail.) but the way law enforcement works. These DDoS attackers are most likely not from the same continent as Kear or Edifice or Arlequina .... thus Law enforcements needs to trace and chase cross country to take care of the issue and by the time they do anything (IF do anything at all ... its a wild goose chase) ... the attackers can relocate and continue their attacks.
Regardless of the legalities of a DDoS attack, they are (relatively) rarely reported and even less often looked into. Finding the source is a lot harder than just looking at who sent the data, it takes a lot of effort.
