The server situation; some thoughts.
First things first, I like having all these people online. I've met loads of people, played with, helped and been helped by so many people; but, and it's a big one, the consistency of the game experience has taken a real dip lately. If it was just disconnects, I think I might have been ok with the situation. I can even handle the idea of re-queuing to an extent. What I cannot abide is disconnecting and then being stuck at the realm list to the point of giving up with Lordaeron apparently still up since it's still green in the list. I'm in no position to know whether or not the causative factor is the increased player cap, but this spate of login server crashes seemed to really come to the fore around the time we went up to 10k players. If it's the hardware not keeping up, perhaps it's time to bring the player cap back down a touch.
If it's not the uprated player cap that's the cause, I'm not going to dog the staff asking what the cause is since it's not my business and I'm sure they know way better than me; but I will state that I think stability should be higher on the priority list at this moment in time. I can DEFINITELY live with Ulduar being delayed till any bumps of this nature are ironed out and I'd be willing to guess I'm not alone in this.
Again, I don't want to sound like I'm griping because this realm is the best thing since sliced bread and it's not going anywhere. I'd just like to point out that there are some problems that probably need attention before fixing "Last Rites".
Peace, love and prosperity.
