Frustrating anti-spam filter in game chat

Every. Single. Day the antispam filter triggers when I type... it's extremely annoying, especially when people expect an answer from me and they have no idea what's going on.

I type very fast, often writing short messages in burst, it's just how I've always done it.

Can you please ease the filter severity?
Maybe increase the amount of text needed to trigger it, reduce the speed between texts, use progressive penalties (5 secs, 10, 30 etc... not straight to 60)

I know it's not just me, a lot of my friends have the same issue as me.

1) I write however the hell I like to, I shouldn't adapt my style to a game's silly rules (never had this issue in any game over 20 years)
2) There are some conversations / occasions where, for many reasons, writing fast is natural and not a choice
3) I know a lot of guildies / friends who have this issue, so your comment is a waste of my time and yours

if you don't want to adopt to how the games designed than perhaps you should find a game more suited to you. spams bad enough as it is without them making it worse.

What a fine example of "game design"

Retail, old core, other private servers (not to mention every other game that comes to mind) do not have such a faulty spam filter - faulty as in prone to generating false positives. Maybe the problem is the implementation of this very filter, not every other product out there.

If the spam is bad enough, as you say, it's because this filter works only in a super short window; if you wait 1 second or so between messages you can still spam... false positives AND false negatives, yay.

There are ways to improve it without hindering its effectiveness

1) Use progressive penalties, so that heavy spammers get the full penalty effect while mistakes only mute you for a few seconds.
2) Make the filter mute you only where you can trigger it. The filter only procs in SAY, YELL and CHANNELS. But when it procs, it blocks ALL communication (party, raid, whisp). This doesn't make any sense imho.

ah, my understanding was that it only blocked you from the chat you were spamming in, not all chats. that part could use fixing

Oh, sorry if I was a bit rough, had no idea about the misunderstanding.

I would also like the spam filter to be looked into. As it stands now, posting advertisings for professions locks you out of chat if you dare link more than one in a channel.
