Hi i have been playing unh dps for a few moths and as y know its a strugle to pull decent dps.
I"ve tried a few specs but still its kind of bad.
So i would like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

The highest you're going to get on single-target, regardless of your spec, is 10-12k. At most. Multiple targets will give you a rather significant boost to your DPS. But I'm going to be honest with you. Most top-end guilds on WotLK won't really care what their Unholy DK's DPS is, because the buffs they give the raid are really nice and boost the raid-wide DPS by a decent amount.
Well, maybe because the spec doesn't work? Scourge Strike scales poorly, ghoul scales poorly and doesn't scale from your combat stats, BCB is pathetic... what more do you want?
The early Unh spec is with Blood subspec, the lategame one is with Frost subspec Icy Talons and Black Ice. Here is a quick spec that I made. The last 3 points can be put into either BCB, Subversion or Wandering Plague. BCB is considered a **** talent, but it's still something, especially for Unholy as you use 2H weapons and you have 3 diseases. Subversion is clean 9% crit on your main source of damage + 25% threat reduction, Wandering Plague is amazing for AoE but mediocre for single-target DPS since diseases are nowhere near your Scourge Strikes, melee or Death Coils. I'd get Wandering Plague, I guess, because it's universal.
@Lynea 10-12k is quite an understatement. I'm pretty sure Unholy can do better than that. I mean, I'm currently doing 10k w/o cooldowns or buffs with a FDK I have and he's barely 5.8k GS in mixed gear and **** trinkets.
Well i dont use the ghoul talents at all cuz it dies in 5 sec ...... And today on icc 25 n Marrow i did 9 k im not sure but i think we didnt have a fdk.
Im at 6 k gs with wfs nm and sts nm + SE.
I'd reroll Blood, if I were you. Here is the spec you should use - Mark of Blood is put as a filler to reach down, as it offers the best utility for 1 point, being able to heal your entire raid for massive amounts, if used correctly. If you want, you can also use Vampiric Blood and Rune Tap for self-sustain, or 1/3 Scent of Blood for when some sort of adds are hitting you. Scent of Blood is the only one from the 4 talents which yields potential DPS, but it's situational and almost worthless.
Anyway, 9k DPS at 6k GS is just pathetic. Just steer clear from Unholy at least until Warmane ports Lordaeron's core to the old realms.

This is my DK. You can ignore the specs if you want, I switch them around testing different builds trying to min/max dps. I haven't found a build I consider optimal yet.
Blood is nice but i already have BVB nm and Havoc nm for frost the thing is finding a place in the guild raids because we have a few fdk that are with higher gear and i can only find a place in the hc raids as unh yet im doing low dps and they dont take me for lod runs.

Well, I immediately see that you have 3/3 Morbidity instead of 1/1 Unholy Blight and 2/2 Endless Winter. Morbidity is an AoE talent and for single-target 1/1 Unholy Blight > 2/3 Morbidity or even 3/3, because UB can stack like Ignite and Deep Wounds. 2/2 Endless Winter is just the icing of the cake from the Frost subspec - you take it because as a % talent it scales into late-game.Quote:

Regarding the 3/3 BCB vs Master of Ghouls, if you can keep the ghoul alive most of the time, then you should prioritize Master of Ghouls over BCB. just roll frost, there is no way atm on dw/rag to make any good dps as uh of blood. (for uh - pet scaling and their squishiness, for blood - bloodgorged and broken death rune mastery - yes its still not working good)
Who said it did? The supposed "fix" they did accomplished almost nothing - they merely fixed the rune grace period, but they didn't even touch on how death runes are being used. So more often than not when you have BBDDDD and you use a FU ability, you end up with BBDDuu instead of BBDfDu, which completely breaks your whole rotation. And fixing it is as easy as fixing the rune priorities being BB1212, instead of right now BB3412. The first F and U runes should have equal priority, followed by the second F and U runes, not just "first we take the U runes, then the F runes" - it's just dumb.

Also remember to get EXP for unholy, else you will lose quite some dps that way. Remember that unholy pve dps is not even meant to top the score so if you do less damage than Frost dk on same gs as you then it's oke and keep going. As Lynea said it quite alot depends also on a fight, at Lord marrow you might find yourself not doing alot of damage for example, but on Lady you can pretty much be on top.

For example use gargoyle while you are on one of the sides, little bit away from people and it will do just fine, as for ghoul... well I actually got ghoul abilities and Attack/Follow keybinded so I can react fast and make it come back to me in case DaD drops under boss or just use Huddle and I am quite sure healers will do the rest (if you are in end game guild that is), so just be more creative and it will be fine.Quote:
