What are the best pets for mm hunters in pvp?
Crab/Ravager/Gorilla are all pretty useful
You generally want to always have roar of sacrifice from your pet because it's incredibly useful to negate crits on yourself and allies.
- Crab for melee with 4 sec immobilization
- Ravager for caster with 2 sec stun
- Spider for slow?
which is best of these skills? I think they all have roar of sacrifice as well.
i havent played wotlk in years, n didn't play too much hunter in those days. but what i do know is.. in arena, u swap pets a lot, or at least u should. u should have pets to fill as many beneficial cc types as u can.
spider is a staple for all hunters in wotlk for sure. it was the most commonly used one. also anyone feel free to correct me on anything, i'm going off memory, which isn't very good so i may be wrong on several things. crab isn't good cuz spider does the same thing but it's ranged instead of melee. if u find a pet with say interrupt melee, and another with interrupt ranged, the ranged pet is better. if say ranged pet 1 can interrupt at 5 yds, and ranged pet 2 can interrupt at 10 yds, ranged pet 2 is better.
some of the best possible cc's pets can have [depends on expansion, so wotlk may not have all of these, in fact i know it don't]. first 3 are best

sleep
blind
root
disarm
interrupt
slow cast
slow run speed
the duration of the cc also needs to be taken into account. like stun is a better cc then sleep since u could dmg them n not break the cc. but if the stun is 2 seconds, and the sleep was 4 seconds, then u would choose the sleep cc pet. i don't remember if silence is an option in wotlk but if it is, that would be up there in the top 3, but i don't think so.
wasp was also worth consideration in wotlk for anti stealth and armor reduction i believe. ravager was good, spider ofc, i think i mentioned it already tho. nether ray. did birds disarm in wotlk? if so then one of those too :P did hyenas have anything good? for some reason they're in my head lol
but yea, a variety of cc is best option. with ravager and spider being the all around default choices if i recall

A spider has a 4 second root (web) however it is also dispellable and can also be grounded and reflected. I don't particularly like the spider since I would much prefer a 2 second stun for the all purpose viability. The ravager and spider are somewhat mobile with dash however if I were to narrow it down to the top 2 pets I would pick the Ravager and Crab. The way I think of it, the web and pin are kind of equivalent, except the crab is way more tanky with insane mobility. Bullheaded is not that great on a spider since you can't stop any casts like a ravager could.
The crab and gorilla are the hardest to master because they provide much more utility in your kit but they are EXTREMELY rewarding when played to the highest level.
Another pet I will mention is the Bat. It has a range 2 second stun (much like the ravager), however this stun costs focus so that's why the ravager is more commonly picked than the bat. If it runs out of focus you will not be able to stun BUT if you are able to manage your focus very well this should not be a problem.
You generally do not go for ferocity pets unless you're doing battlegrounds since you won't be punished as much for not having roar of sacrifice. If you get ganged by 5+ people roar of sac isn't going to save you. If you do happen to choose to pick ferocity pets, a wolf is usually the best for increasing your damage however that is the only thing it will provide you.

No!!! Spiders and Crab are VERY DIFFERENT
Let's have a look at the list of options you get from each.
Crab: Charge, Intervene, Roar of Sacrifice, Pin, Last Stand, Rhino BLood, 1/2 Wild Hunt
Spider: Roar of Sacrifice, Web, Bullheaded OR Roar of recovery

The wasp is redundant since the attack actually has to land in order to prevent stealth. Any decent rogue will evasion and easily dodge the hell out of it. Even if it does land, it is dispellable with cloak of shadows or just a regular dispel. It also doesn't have roar of sacrifice. It is redundant against feral druids since they do not try to restealth remotely as often as rogues do, as well as their ridiculous amount of dodge just like rogues.
