Character merges?

Okay so, i come back after a few months off, only to find that my account is wiped clean. No gold, no characters, no currency's or nothing.
I manage to get in touch with someone in game that tells me i had/have to merge my characters and accounts together since the realm merges into icecrown and lordaeron happened. However, my issue here is that i hop onto the "My account" section and find the merge tab.. Here's where the problem starts.. It says "Merges have concluded". Does that mean i can't get my characters back? My currency's and my freaking prolonged hours put into this server just because i missed the "Merging"? Is there no way at all to get my account back to the way it was? Has he-who-shall-not-be-named been in the runs again? Has he gone and taken down account data again?
