What is the Criteria for Character Trade?

Hi,
Could you tell me what is the basic requirement to be fulfilled to make my characters eligible for trade. Last I tried to create auction for my char, i got an error message as 'You are not eligible for character trade'. Please provide me options with which my characters can be made eligible for trade.
