Wanted to play some sweet woltk wow and while downloading the client thought of checking in-game forums, saw some posts about Lord loosing players, content too hard, etc... is it an issue? or just some usual forum ranting? Don't want to to set a foot on a dying server for sure, so just asking.
Is Lordaeron ok to play on? (Planning as a Horde if that impacts gameplay somehow).
Population is fine, PvE is fine, PvP is slightly worse, there are many bots and numerous bugs. Sadly, atm there is not much of a competition among Wotlk servers, so I don´t think you will make a mistake by playing on Lordareon.
I've played in quite few servers and this one is giving me the best experience so far, as far as content being hard.. we got a nerf on Naxx10 recently and there's always new progression guilds showing up, I don't feel that is a problem. Also, the comunity is great and you will find tons of players around while leveling which is a great experience.
It's losing players to the neighboring 7x rate Icecrown realm, but is far from dying. Note that WoTLK raids are buffed, and RDF is disabled. If you are okay with this, go Lordaeron. If you'd like to experience endgame faster with (more or less) working RDF and without buff, you can go Icecrown
Rumor has it that Icecrown's raid is accidentally buffed as well tho
Been playing on Lordaeron since the start. What I can tell you is that on the forums you will always see the most negative part of the server. On the forum many people discuss problems about the server (Yes, there are also some happy and nice things on the forum too).
What I can tell you from my experience, is that after wotlk had been released there was a HUGE hype! After some months, there got from some people little to do, therefor some people take a break. As soon as Ulduar was released the hype got even bigger, and the server record got from 10k to 12k players (with queue). Now it is both summer and the hype is kinda "gone" - even tho a lot of people still play. Also Icecrown just got released or merged, so there is a lot hype there now.
The server is far from dead tho, 9-12k online very day, thats a lot. I am pretty sure as soon as more content will be released, even more people will stay for the next releases - because there will be more to do. Now there is not too much for some people to do, since we are currently at Ulduar.
If you see people complain about arena being dead don't worry. 2v2 is active, but 3v3 can be active at times.. 5v5 has always been dead... rbg as good :)

there is constant gold spamming in trade chat, gold spammers also yell, send you whispers and mail
there are barely any raiding guilds
there are several elitist eu guilds
i think now there is one half *** us guild
the realm is mostly filled with new players , everyone else has left after the atrocious ulduar release
content is extremely hard and overtuned

server is absolutely lagless and stable which i find to be bizzare considering how bad everything else is
Gold sellers are everywhere and it's (alot) worse on other realms and private servers. Here it's not that bad imo.
There are tons of raiding guilds: guilds that are starting out, guilds that have cleared some content and hardcore raiding guilds.
Only a handful of elitist hardcore players/guilds.
It's a European server... What do you expect?
The realm is filled with a great community of both new and experienced players, a lot with previous WoW experience.
The server runs smoothly, almost bugfree with the exception of some quests, ... Yes the raids are hard, but the game has been out for more than a decade... Who doesn't like a challenging game?
Yeah, I really hope they can atleast limit the goldsellers some how. I don't know how, but would be great. (For example don't let people talk if they are not on their friend list until level 5).Quote:

While the 1x rates are kinda nice in the sense that getting stuff like crafting materials, gold, etc. actually has some kind of meaning and PvP works reasonably well, non-guild raiding PvE is just a joke.
You waste hours upon hours searching for groups and players for heroics and pickup raids in a channel that I have to call "cancer" for a lack of a better term. It's horrible and I don't understand why they didn't at least open up a dedicated LFG/LFM-channel.
Then when you want to do casual raid encounters like VOA, you realize that the gearscore and achievement nazis have infested lordaeron as well (and understandably so due to the ridiculously buffed boss encounters).
All that "hardcore" bs is only killing your valuable time, nothing else.
And after the ridiculously overbuffed ulduar, even guild raiders are feeling it.
That's why the population is declining at the moment.
The only thing lordaeron has going for it is that donors have little real advantage in terms of items such as Shadowmourne and that it is still progressing. If not for that, I'd reroll on icecrown in a heartbeat.
What's challenging about the tank being killed with 1 or 2 hits in full hc+ gear? As I said in another thread: if I want to gamble, I can go to a casino.Quote:
