WoW constantly crashing (probably) because of WoD models
First of all, I'm sorry if there's a similar solved thread already but I haven't been able to find it.
I play on Loarderon, so 3.3.5.a.
I have this very annoying problem, my client constantly crashes and it seems to happen when it has to load one of the WoD models (even though I myself don't have them and play with the old, "classic" client).
90% of the time the crash is caused by "blood elf female skin" or "blood elf male skin". Rarely, the error log says something about not having enough memory (although I have 4GB RAM and never had problems playing WoW - this only happens on Warmane).
At first, when this happened, I narrowed the problem down to the patch.MPQ file in /data. Basically, everything that has to do with skins is in this file - at least that's what I think. So, my "brilliant" idea was to copy the original patch.MPQ file from the original download and replace the "corrupted" one. This seemed to fix the problem, for a totally random amount of time - sometiems it was days, other times it was minutes.
However, then I realized something. It never really fixed the problem, but since copying the file usually took up to 5 minutes, this meant that the player using the "corrupted" model probably went away, and since I play alliance, I usually don't see too many blood elves, right?
So here I am, crashing every f*king time I come even close to a blood elf. Even when just flying above them etc.
Please, help me. It's really unplayable - even though sometimes I can squeeze out HOURS of gameplay without any issues, other times I crash every 3 minutes or am even unable to log in since I crash instantly after loading...
EDIT: Sorry for the wrong category and thanks for moving the thread into the right one.
EDIT2: Oh, I think I have not made it clear that I do NOT HAVE WoD models. :D Oooops...
I have just the original 3.3.5a WOTLK client without anything extra..
