HOW does the queue system on Icecrown work even?

So Icecrown caps out at 12K players - Player limit on the server. Yet since I have joined the "Premium pay ****** club" and bought Coins: I can enter DESPITE the queue, but then won't the server be OVER capped? Will it not be OVER 12K players online then?

Like how does that even work? Is someone FORCED online when I logg on? Or is the capacity at OVER 12K but 12K is where it caps out "Normaly" and then ONLY premium members can exceed that 12K limit and log on despite the queue?

Just asking since too me it just seems odd that there is a queue for a reason - the server is full, but then I in the premium ****** club can just SKIP that queue despite the server being "FULL" making me wonder if Icecrown CAN hold over 12K players of I force some poor individual offline when I logg on while Icecrown is at the 12K player peak.

Yeah i think you pretty much got it right on the second idea.
Let's assume the server is capped at 12k. Then a premium user tries to log in and gets onto the server. Now the server is at 12001. Now when someone logs of, for the people in queue the counter won't go down by one, but stay at the same position. If multiple premium members log in at the same time, the position in queue won't change until the server is down to 11999 people to support the guy that is first in queue.
At least this is what i think it does.

Well that would make the MOST sense but then again - Won't the server eventually blow up when everyone spends 10 euros and gets a free pass for the queue?

Last time that question was asked Obnoxious his comment on it was something like "It's no use asking yourself that question as the server will never have over 12000 donators online at the same time".

They obviously want to disclose as little information about it as possible as the amount of donators also tells something about the potential income of "warmane".

If the que really works like mentioned before in this thread then i think it would still work fine with even 11k out of 12k donators online. The que would move awfully slow tho.

More donators logged in = slower que.

11k donators logged in = slow que but no problem.

12k donators logged in = No free to play anymore, que stops moving, but donators can play.

12k donators + 100 donators = Server goes over the cap of 12k and let's the 100 extra donators log in. Slightly overloaded server, latency server increases for everyone, slightly higher chance to crash.

Guessing the next step:
12k donators + 2k donators = Server goes over the cap of 12k and let's the 2000 extra donators log in. Overloaded unplayable server, unbearable lag, chaincrashes as soon as population goes over 13k.

OR

12k donators + 2k donators = Server goes over the cap of 12k and let's 100 extra donators log in. The other 1900 donators can not log in. Server keeps running.

30k donators = Blizzard takes the warmane servers down because they want a piece of the cake, nvm Blizzard wants the whole cake/cold hard cash.

There are several donators already who are using queue skip, making server reach itself to 13k and perhaps 14k even, wouldn't surprise me. It feels like the cap literally doesn't solve anything. The more people donating, the more chances server will have stability issues, making certain individuals having more than 200 ms, and who knows, if some server crashes will happen hereafter, and, as a secondary effect, slower queues

With all due respect, this system was not the best idea sadly, as anyone can see, there are more and more threads being opened talking about the same subject over and over again, poor non-donors (and / or all those who are having troubles to donate) have zero chances to play if they can only log in during the second half of the day, lets say, 4pm+ ST, but in the other hand, I can understand why, as hey, this is still a private server anyway, it needs lots of money to sustain, in this case, 6 servers, 2 with very high population

I have seen also lots of petitions to increase the cap. Nah, that won't solve a jack squad. I may put my experience in Lordearon on the table before Raggy + Deathwing got merged, I remember it had a cap at 4k or 5k, then it was always being raised, and there were still with 2k queues, same as this. It's not a raise to 13k or 14k that all these issues are going to get erased

Now, I think the REAL problem is, and I have no clue if admins had even thought about this, there are a real exaggerated number of players who are logging million accounts to let it "rot" in char selecct screen plus the number of those in game AFK'ers who will press W once each 25 minutes to avoid server kick, my lucky guess, in order to reserve spots for the entire day

I may be wrong, but wouldn't it be much better if you just reduced the AFK timers? For example 10m in-game +10m in char list screen? It is more than enough for a AFK. If someone plans to AFK longer than that, then let other player come in instead. Just because he or she isn't a donor, or because can't donate, doesn't mean he / she doesn't deserve to play a little bit

Bro, they obviously know that there's a ****load of afkers on the server and that's the main cause of that ridiculous queue.
But people who suggest that the afk kick system would help to solve "the problem" usually get their posts deleted.

Back in the old days every realm had a few hundred "extra" spots for donors, like if the server was capped at 4K and a donor logged in then the online count would show 4001 players online, but now? who knows

When realm is capped, premium members can still log in and get a bit overcap, which is why the realm cap isn't maxed out. I believe, the server can hold like 13k people or something, but is not being pushed to the limit for this reason - to reduce the effect. On the nonpremium screen the first positions in queue are simply held by those premiums reaching over the cap.

First of all good for you for donating. you helped a server stick around, don't let other people make you feel guilty for skipping the que, it's their server and they've set it up the way they want.

As to your second question, don't worry there will ALWAYS be more freeloaders asking for more rather than contributing to the server. For you it doesn't matter anymore. You get to bypass that now. YAY!

Here's how it works, as far as I've understood.

Let's assume that 12k people are online and 2k people are in queue.

Now if 1k donors joined:
- There would actually be 13k people online and 2k people in queue
- You would see that as 12k people online and 3k people in queue
- The next person in queue would get online after 1001 people left from the server
