Another "character trading" thread.

Okay so firstly my question is, since the implementation of Character trading, how many "BIS ENTERCLASSHERE" characters, above 300 coins, have actually sold?

While waiting for a moderator/admin to find the correct answer to that question i'll get on with my thread.
Here is the problem I have.

I have now grown very tired and bored of WOTLK, all my friends have moved to Cata realm and I wish to join them. I just really don't want to start from the very beginning over there.

I have played this WOTLK for a lot of years and invested thousands, YES THOUSANDS of real life money on my characters, I have 10 slots used and all 10 characters are BIS.

But now I am wanting to sell those characters, and put the potential coins I would receive for them into a character/characters on a cataclysm server.

The problem being, Nobody is going to buy ANY of my characters because as things stand right now, the cheapest character I own is valued at 330 coins.
As with lots of other people on warmane, they have characters that they no longer want or play, that they have invested lots of time and effort in to, even their own money, for some people, and they can not sell them to due to not being to actually dictate what price they should be able to sell them for.

I'd quite happily sell a character i own that is valued at 300+ coins for only 200 coins if it meant getting a quick sale, not even a quick sale but a GUARANTEED sale.

The character trade system is one of the most useless features on this server as things stand right now, as it only benefits those who are selling freshly hit level 80's that have no gear, gold or items for 30 coins a piece.

Those of us who have invested time and money in to characters, and are trying now to recoup just part of that investment are the ones who do not benefit at all from this feature.

So that being said I go back to my question, since the implementation of Character trading, how many "BIS ENTERCLASSHERE" characters, above 300 coins valuation, have actually sold?

I'd be surprised if it was more than 10.

While i'm writing this i'm going to make a suggestion.

Why can't donators have a feature that allows those of us that have donated a certain amount of money, to sell our characters "back to warmane" for a discounted price?

just using this as an example but if your account has a combined donation amount of $500, why not have a feature that allows users to sell their character back to warmane at 50% of the value price?

anyone who has donated anything below $500 the feature would not be available for, maybe not $500 but 400, heck even 300, i don't know what figure would be best but it's just a suggestion to actually allow some of us people who have donated ALOT of money to warmane to actually get something back for it

About the first part - yeah, selling chars is hard, but the feature is a legal way to do it, it is in NO WAY intended to encourage doing so. This is regards both - buying and selling chars.
Regards the "buying back" - Warmane has no interest in buying our characters - why would they need them? Then next step would be refunding stuff whenever, while they have 24h rule for a reason.

donor perk for refunding coins to warmane? I can see this being highly abused... imagine a guild gearing a fresh lvl 80/85/90 over the course of a few runs of a raid, then using the owner's Honored/Exalted donor status to "refund" that character for 200 coins... that means everyone in the core of people that did that can gain 10-20 coins every month literally for free...

that's of course if warmane actually added this... you bet people would come up with something like this 'free coins' idea or possibly something different I can't think of... and even a minimum /played or char "existant time" wouldn't stop them from abusing the system

at most... at the very most... the unlikeliest too... would be for special cases where a player can send a ticket to the GMs and they can check his chars and all the relevant data and delete the char while pushing some coins onto your account... which would mean a whole lot of work for the GMs

You misunderstood me, I didn't mean warmane buys our characters back as such, I meant like a refund but obviously for a reduced value of the initial cost.

Warmane would still have benefited though, because lets say at some time or other during the course of a players character he donated for BIS like a lot of players do, that would cost what, $300? $400?....

If warmane gave back 50% of the coins spent on that character that's still a 50% profit margin for warmane. Maybe even 100% if we think about this hard enough, because people are wanting to sell their characters for coins for a reason, they are not just going to be sitting there not used on anything. Any coins people get through character sales are going to be used AGAIN through warmane so they are not going to be losing out.

Hell i'd gladly sell all my characters for 50% of the inital amount of coins i spent on each one if it meant I was able to get some coins back to do as I pleased, I.E buy some stuff for a character on a cataclysm realm

Ive been thinking a lot about this lately , we need to find a way so that warmane can get extra money from the service and we can sell our chars , so we can all be happy and have a better server...

As it is right now its obvious the systems doesnt work at all , prices are ridiculous , however this is because their main rule is that it shouldnt be cheaper for a person to buy a geared char than to buy the items from the store , wich ok , makes some sense, so here s my thought:


Lets say u wanna sell ur char wich is worth 100coins according to the sale site , and buying the actual gear + level token will cost 90coins , ppl will just buy the gear from store , however , what if u charge the seller for 20 coins ahead , right when the char is put for sale , u alrdy have a fee but it only aplies after the sale is made so the price is still 100coins ,if we play by this example... the way i see it, if u somehow freeze those 20 coins from the seller , u can sell the char for 80coins and if the sale is made u keep those 20 coins also ... that way u get the 100 coins and most important the 100$, the buyer pays 80coins so its actually appealing to him to use this system and the seller gets 60coins from his char , its a win win situation ...but wait, theres more! ....

The above mentioned will bring an extra benefit for the servers income , wich is ur main goal on any system aplied , if somebody wants to sell a char they WILL have to donate for those "fee" coins, right now u only need to donate the minimun to use the system , but if u do as i said before , lets say a char worth 300coins , ppl will have to have at least like 50coins on their accounts so it can get frozen until the sale is made , that way u can sell that char for 250coins instead of 300 , u get money from both seller and buyer , and seller gets 200coins total with an investment of only 50c .

Think about it , why making a system that gives u minimun profit , gives disconfort to all donators , takes space on ur website and database and is pretty much useless right now , u can make this thing a money maker for u and make everyone happy , just pls think about it dont just delete the post ...

Ever heard of any character being sold for more than 50-100 euros on private server? No. No matter what system is in place, as long as prices are above 100 coins chracters wont be sold almost at all.

Note: Also for example my Shadow priest with bags costs almost 700 coins, thats around 700$, no one will ever buy it lol.

You'd be wrong. There have been plenty of characters purchased for large sums. That's not really the point of the system though.

There is a massive difference between a character that's worth 100 coins and one that's worth 1000+ coins, how is someone who is bored stupid with his amazingly geared character, who might want to play on a cataclysm server from wotlk, supposed to get any kind of coin back when his character is so highly geared?

this system only benefits low valued characters

Again, that is not what this system is for.

A quick question - If I decide to sell a character from my account, will only this char go or It must be on a clean account only for that char, thanks!

Nobody gonna buy it with this RIDICULOUS MIN PRICE.
Warmane can't understand they will earn more money if someone donate 200 coins to buy full character than 50 for 2 items. Nobody will give 600 coins for character for example. Most people who sell characters wont donate, so you lose no money when they earn 'free' coins, understand it.

The character being sold can be on any of your own accounts. However, the coins from the transaction will be credited to the account the character originated from.

Again. That is not what this system is for. Believe it or not, not everything we do is to earn money. The system is in place for those who really want to trade their characters when there wouldn't otherwise be a legitimate way of doing it. See it as a legitimate alternative to the black market.
