Is Rap/Hip Hop Dead? Give your thoughts.
I stumbled upon a post from Noisey via Facebook saying Vince Staples told his fans to "quit worrying about 90's rap". And it made me think, not only from reading some of the comments, but is this genre 'dying'?
With most of today's rappers only rapping and rhyming about trap houses, finessing the plug and jugging, a lot of people state the genre is absolutely dead, or at least fallen to the dark side (take that how you will whether you're a rap fan or not). Those same people compare today's rappers to the likes of the martyrs of the genre, such as Tupac, Biggie or Nas, which, in my opinion are totally different subgenres, but some disagree about the subgenre part and believe Rap/Hip Hop should be treated as the same all around.
Personally I don't know what to believe at this point. I would like to say I like both older Rap and newer Rap, from Grandmaster Flash to everyone in the QC label (Lil Yachty, Migos, etc.)
What's your opinion on where Rap/Hip Hop is headed?
