Hello. After playing some rogue and having a bit of fun at it (though due to lack of experience, probably at my team's expense.) I wanted to expand into other classes. I wanted to roll a healer this time, but am unsure which class would be the most help from someone with no real experience healing BGs.
All healers fare well for BGs, but Holy Paladin will likely be the easiest for you to get into. It's really straightforward for the most part.

I'd say paladins. As Mercy said, straight up healing and if you are ever in trouble just buble + hearstone. For resto druids well, i wouldn't call them the easiest, you need to switch forms and cc, hots can be dispelled which leads to having hard times of healing. Priests well, facing SM warrior as not bis geared discy will end up you being dead most of the time even tho disc is probably the best healer. Shamans at some points are balanced except the fact that they got not as many deff cd's as rest of the healers.
cant u judge urself by amount of holy paladins and resto druids wich classes are faceroll for battlegrounds as healer ?
I honestly see no Paladins and barely any druids in bgs. It's like 98% priest, from what I've seen. I thought Holy Pally was a bad healing spec, and no one used it until now.Quote:

I play a lot of resto shaman and holy priest (disc was mandatory for arenas but holy is just far superior for many reasons in bg's unless you are a noob then stick with disc). The priest can definitely survive much better with a lot of instants and an oh crap button. You also have a ton of spells, something for every situation. But I have been told its too many spells and too complicated for some, but honestly once you get your set up fixed it will flow pretty naturally. The class is by far the best designed heal set wise. (make sure to use some heal bot type mod, and a mouse with plenty of buttons,it makes all the difference)
The Shaman on the other hand is super simplistic heal wise, big heal, small heal, and your HoT you cast nearly on cd to keep buffs up for casting those first two, and earth shield whch you cast as a sort of longer lasting shield/HoT hybrid. You also have chain heal but its not that great in most scenarios, a big bg just doesnt have the same situation as an arena match, the large groups and other factors make it often better to just use other heals. It has its uses but are much more limited. So the main healing is simple, Totems tho can get a bit trickier with timing but its not so demanding in BG's where a missed use grounding totem wont kill you. The shaman makes up for its lack of instants, larger group aoe and fire and forget spells with large and fast direct heals. 20k+ HW crits (and 2 fast cast after riptide) , 10k LHW crits (12k if glyphed and earth shielded), and super high crit rates depending on how you gear. But this also means those who can interrupt can shut you down in a hurry. While a priest, esp holy, can avoid hard cast spells to a point, a shaman has little choice.
Both classes have nice utility, the shaman often being more group focused utility. But you do have to constantly cast and recast totems in bg's so efficient use of them is a must.
I played a Holy pally before the wipe, and honestly it was boring, and annoying. If you like to play to the limit like I do then the constant stupid crap you have to do to keep all your healing buffs up will get annoying, often you just wont use certain buffs and talents because its too ****in annoying. You'd be surprised how many timers I had goin to make sure i kept up every little buff, and im not talking about kings/wisdom etc. Again, the lack of variety and instants made them a one trick pony. More so than the shaman. If not for the bubble, they would be crap compared to a shaman. They do have utility and its easy to play if you dont get to worried about keeping every little buff up on yourself all the time.
Resto druid, I have played very little of them, maybe a dozen bg's at max gear. But I played with them in my premades the most by far of any healer. They will always top healing charts in a bg just due to all the HoT spam and absurd overheals. I personally try to be as efficient as possible on my shaman/priest. If you like topping charts, even if you arent very good, then play the druid. The instant heals are crazy as is travel form. Between that, the zillion HoT's and Natures Swiftness, and more, you survive very well. Unless you are absolutely swarmed or being purged like hell while someone else dps's and you get hit with Judgment of Justice, you dont die much. They arent difficult, but not as easy as a pally, or a shaman. Their spells are not as well designed, atleast in this xpac, as a priest, and they get a fair amount of overlap in their heal usage. But they have quite a few and allow for some good variety in play and are fun to play for sure. Just being able to hide and move in stealth as a healer can be quite handy in a bg.
In the end, do as others have said, try em out on blackrock. They each have ups and downs and everyone has their own preferences. What I like is now what others like. But i know someone from each of those classes who think theirs is the best, and to them it is. So try em out and see what works for you.

My vote goes to paladin or priest.
Definitely avoid druid if you are not experienced. The tree form is best pvp taunt in the game.
Shaman is a bit complicated for new players because of the totems.

Alternatively, you can be out of tree form, and be that offensive healer throwing out the roots, cyclones, faerie fires and moonfires :P
Tbh, priest healers are the biggest taunt for me. The moment I see a penance, I'm death gripping him/her into a gnaw or Strangulate next cd.
Based on what you are asking druid would be the way to go, easy to get into with a lot of room to expand
Holy Paladin, no question. Just add FoL to every space on your action bar and smash your face to the keyboard
