The lesson of the burning scroll (Panda starting area quest)

I'm trying to finish the quest, which requires you to grab the flame from Master Shang Xi's hand but it just won't let me do it, I've clicked everywhere on him and around him and still no luck.
I've completed it once before by just randomly spamming right click around him, but now I've been trying to do it for 10 minutes to no avail.
I've also tried some solutions I found on google, such as right clicking him as soon as i accept the quest, even though after abandoning it a few times the quest disappears and you can't take it again unless you log out and back in again.

So does anyone know exactly how you're supposed to do it?
