Question about names

For how long must someone be inactive to request a name they have?

I've seen some of my character names revoked, so I was wondering about it.

I just read the FAQ and found nothing regarding my issue.

Name cleanup was not supposed to happen yet and I don't think it did. And it's not possible to request names. So if your names disappeared, there should be another reason for it.

5 of my characters "have been flagged for a rename" , 4 of them being 80 level and none of them had any sort of inappropriate names. So if the issue is as you say, why did their names disappear?

Your char names might have been names of streamers, youtubers or they were inappropriate.

They were none of the above.

On a side note, why would a name get revoked if it shared similarities with a youtuber or whatever? It's not like such names are copyrighted.

Which realm are those characters on and when did you use them last time? Could it be that they lost their names when realms merged?

You don't own your account or your names. It's Warmanes property. Therefore whatever they decide goes. So if real Sodapoppin decides to play on Warmane he will most likely get his name from a random pleb who took it.

They're on Icecrown, and yes it was like 400+- days since my lost login.

That's like a totally random and unrealistic assumption. Your first comment implied that using "famous people" names was forbidden.

It's not forbidden. I've just seen names like that being flagged for ranames after the youtuber/streamer started playing.

Then names were most likely lost when realms merged. There could have been characters with those names on the other realm. Or if you had to transfer your characters manually and you did it late, others could have taken those names.

Merge was may 20th 2016. But if he lost names during the merge why would he say it was on Icecrown? It would have either been Ragnaros or Deathwing.
