Cannot log into a brand new game download

Just downloaded the game, Wotlk version. Servers.wtf file is correct and NOT read only. Windows firewall is off. When trying to login, i use the warmane account name and password, not email, but it says information is incorrect. Could it be i need a new account, since this one is half a year old and i just downloaded a client? Or something else i can do? I cannot change the password on the warmane account either (to try a new one), everything i try says new password is incorrect. But i login fine on warmane with the current password.
