Why are forum rules so absurdly strict?

Why are forum rules so absurdly strict?

There is so much stuff that we cant talk about, that gets deleted and so on. Moderation as such is fine for a forum, deleting topics you dont like most certainly isnt (unless its about illegal stuff, racism or similar). The absurdly strict rules (or the enforcing of them) are so over the top that every time warmane gets mentioned this (i.e the forum and the censorship) comes up (be it on reddit, mmo-champion, in game, everywhere).

Why is there so MUCH censorship here? Why does criticism or doubt or accusations get deleted instead of treated in an adult way? Why cant the warmane team handle people not sharing their opinion? Why does every second topic start like "Hello staff,
I would like to point out a few things,
Do not take it personally and please do not ban me for writing this." (just taken from the first thread on the mop sub forum)

Why does criticism or doubt or accusations get deleted instead of treated in an adult way?

When criticism ot accusations are made in an adult way AND they haven't been answered over and over, we reply equally. But that's not the case. Most attacks are just from competitors or their loyal sheeps who have nothing better to do there than come to Warmane and try in a very futile way, to influence people from here to go away and try their servers. Those are swiftly banned with their topics deleted.

Some of those are also people who broke the rules and got banned and feel the urge to take revenge by posting insults on the forums. Some of them do it via Private messages, but calling public attention also works for them.

Developers don't read the forums. They check the bugtracker and follow a priority order. Posting about a bug you found or asking if anyone in the forums found a fix or notice or had the same problem is not only counterproductive, but fills the forum with useless topics. Talk about the game, the lore, the music, whatever, but not bugs or bans or queue. The Support & Q/A section is a place where we give some lenience for these subjects as long as there's no abuse.

He received a permanent ban on a different thread over basically advertising other Mists servers while bashing Frostwolf. It was nothing related to this thread, happened days after this thread was created, and if that's "absurdly strict" for him he's better off away from here anyways.

I didn't see his posts, so I won't comment on it. I do know however that you guys count even mentioning another private server or private server database as advertisement, when no other server (that I've seen) does so. It at times hinders healthy discussion on how to improve this server when we have to use euphemisms to get a point across.

This is an example of what the OP refers to in regards to censorship.

It's a privately owned Forum. We don't want mentions or discussions about other servers here. In fact, euphemisms also get the same treatment when reported or caught. If you can't respect our simple rules, it might be better to not take part in it. Calling it censorship just makes me picture you as someone who goes to someone's place and *****es when they say they have breakfast at 7am, not at 9am like you want.
