Transmogrify inter-class compatibility

So the question is deadly simple.

Considering you can buy t7 to t9 pieces of gear from the point shop... Is it possible to use a peice from a different class to transmog to yours? Like, get a shaman's t7 piece to use on a hunter. Does this work?

No, you cannot transmog items that you cannot already equip. Whether it is a class or profession or reputation or any kind of equip requirement, if you can't wear it you can't mog it.
