Question about Heirlooms and Shamans

I just wanna ask something about Heirlooms and Shamans. I'm planning to start a Shaman alt and i'm ready to buy Heirlooms for it.

My question is, can I send and use Mail heirlooms for my Shaman at Level 1? Since (if I remember correctly) Shamans can only wear Mail armor at Level 40(?) or something like that. Am I able to equip those heirlooms at level 1 or do I need to wait until I get the skill in which I am able to equip Mail armor?

Yes, you can use them from level 1. Those mail heirlooms will be leather while you aren't able to use mail armor.
