Character Trading Question

Is there a way to trade a character with someone privately? I want to give a friend one of my 70's so I was wondering if there was an actual "Trade" function other than the online market (which is less a trade and more a generic currency purchase) that would allow me to give a specific person my character without having to give away my account. I just get confused when I see the word trade but can't find an option for it other than selling my character on the AH

There is an actual Trade function. There's no "Character Gifting" or "Character Exchange" function, though, no. Anything like that has to be done through Trading.
