Ranged or malee weapon

Hey! I just wanted to spend my points to buy a weapon for my hunter. So assuming that my hunter doesn't have essential both ranged and malee weapon which one should I buy, which one is more important?
What I mean is that most time hunter is using bow/crossbow/gun, but malee weapons provide more base stats and seems to be more important, not taking into account weapon dmg.
Does it depends on spec also? I would like to go MM and BM as a 2nd spec.

Dude u arent a warrior, ofc range one. Melee is only for the stats.

There's just nothing as important as your weapon damage on your ranged weapon. No matter the other stats, this one will define your damage the most.
