The population just isn't big enough to support them, so they almost always end after several minutes for insufficient players. Even worse, they tend to cause huge queues for one faction. Last night horde had a 27 min queue while an IoC was filling.

Started queueing at 22:49 server time and it popped at 23:16. I was watching the stream in an IoC that could never fill at the time.
Well put. Even at prime hours they back it up. For those that don't have access to these high pop hours. It can really be a drag waiting for av to fill. Just to have that time wasted when it disbands. More people need to see this post
They won't close those maps. Nowadays some suggestions have been and will be ignored.
I can't get the problem because bgs end in 5 minute if there aren't enough player and que on horde side is almost istant. If you are worried about wasting 10-15 minutes of your life you have chosen the wrong game, try league of legend or something like that.
