At the moment? The moment of 2.4.3 that has been frozen in time for the past decade?!
More sincerely, Feral druids are at least adequate tanks, and in certain situations excellent tanks for PVE encounters. They excel at tanking straightforward melee damage and in generating large threat leads.
Frequently they are used as offtanks, due to their capacity to switch to cat form and provide mediocre melee dps when not needed as a tank. Improved Leader of the Pack is a highly desired party-buff for a melee group in raids, as well as mangle (for warriors and some rogues) and Faerie Fire (for all physical damage dealers). The ability to provide caster classes an Innervate, and to provide a battle rez are situationally beneficial aspects to having a Feral druid around.
Pros:
- Very High HP
- Very High Armor
- High Damage, High Single-target threat
- Medium Damage, Medium Multi-target threat
- Innervate, druid doesn't need it, so it can be shared to party/raid members
- Battle Rez, for recovering from losses mid-fight
- Immune to polymorph, and functionally immune to snares (form-shifting)
Cons:
- No magical defenses, reliant upon only large amount of health buffer to survive magic attacks
- Limited tool kit, 3-4 abilities in constant usage, but very few situational capabilities (no shield wall or shield blocking,
- Poor at tanking mob packs of 5 or more.
- No reliable interupt (stun on a 60s cooldown, charge on a 15s cooldown but requires excessive maneuvering)
Dont listen to him cat can do a good DPS if you know your class, cat start be a bit behind (not a lot) at t6, and gap increase at t6.5 but still bring more than a rogue (innervation, Brez, crit aura that provide mediocre group heal when crit, possible tank if MT1 die).Quote:
