Hello!
I have some real problems with FPS in this game and i'm not sure what to do.
My setup:
Intel i7 8700k
nVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti
Samsung 960 EVO 500 gb nvmE m2 SSD
I'm playing in 1440p.
My friends are getting 100 or more fps in dalaran, with everything maxed, and some of them are playing in 4k resolution and also get that fps.
Is my computer too weak? Why is my fps so low...
I'm getting 30-50 FPS...
GPU and CPU usage is about 11% and 12%

You have 12 threads, WoW is an old game and is not coded to utilize more than one. Only one of your 6 cores' resources are being utilized as a result. This is also why GPU utilization is low. The graphics card isn't going to pump out frames faster than the cpu is issuing draw calls to it.
The engine isn't really meant to handle over 10k peep realms so yes even such a pc would experience very significant frame dips at max settings in a place like Dalaran. Nothing is wrong with your pc.

Common things you can try are the following:
Add the line SET processAffinityMask "0" to config.wtf so WoW can utilise any of your cpu threads.
In nvidia control panel under manage 3d settings -> power management mode set it to prefer maximum performance under program WoW.exe or system wide but this will increase your overall power consumption since your GPU will always run at max frequency.
Disable Intel speedstep (in bios options or windows power options->change high performance plan settings->change advanced settings->processor power mangement->min/max processor state set to 100%) so your cpu is always running at max frequency, but again will increase system power consumption.
I have now attempted a 39% overclock on the CPU causing all cores to run at 4.9 ghz and also overclocked the ram to 3200 hz.Quote:
