I have been having these issues with the auction house, anytime my item sells I get a letter in my mail that says that the payment is pending and it will be I will be played at 12:00 AM, but I never receive these payments and have lost a lot of gold over it .
There is one mail that arrives the moment someone buys your item. 1 hour later you get another mail with the gold. First mail does not get automatically deleted unless server crashes so it might cause confusion. Time in the mail is wrong but it has nothing to do with lost gold. There have been a few cases when people really don't get the gold but such cases seem very rare. Most of the time it's just confusion because you get 2 different mails for each item you sell.
