My account was broken into and my level 80 mains are gone, what can I do?

As the title says, my account was broken into and my level 80 characters were all either deleted or transferred to another account during an extended hiatus from Warmane. I found that the account's email was switched to an email that I don't know seven months ago, proving that somebody has tampered with it. I do have a back up file from a year ago, but can't locate it, if that means anything. What are my options to retrieve these characters?

If you regained access to the account and it's a premium account, you can make a support ticket on website here. Otherwise send an email to [email protected]. Backup files can not be used for that. They should have their own backups but I don't know if they can restore your characters.
