Does it matter which expansion I download?

So I am playing on this server to play with a friend? Downloading the game gives me a little confusion. Do I just download whatever expansion I want ? or do I only download the specific expac

You have to download the xpac you are planning to play.

Incase you choose Wotlk you have 2 options.
Wotlk old - default
Wotlk new models - has wod models, nice and pretty

I recomend playing wotlk as it is the best expansion and I recomend downloading the "old" client as it is the one intended for wotlk.

It is best to download the mop client because you can play on all the servers of the various expansions all in one
