How to Prevent the Gold Squish Drama 2020
I think it's really fair to say that there hasn't been a single year when the gold squish was welcomed with a standing ovation, accepted and cherished by everybody. In fact, 3/3 years, people were pissed, pissed and oh guess what, pissed. The gold squish took money from the people genuinely farming for their in-game necessities while the ones in the top 5% with 80% of all the gold cashed it in or items and made at least 70% of their value back by this point of time. Since the gold prices are about to peak up... Again, due to the next year's squish, which people are expecting as had been the case 3 years in a row so far, let me give my two cents on how I believe the gold squish can be avoided for the sake of warmane's pure profit.
The amount of gold in the server doesn't matter. Gold is useless on its own part for the low grinding players, but it's not them who are peaking the prices but the people actually selling their gold for coins. My suggestion is simple:
1) REMOVE GOLD TO COIN AND COIN TO GOLD SITE TRADES. Before I get publicly linched, read on. Instead, create an automated system where you (warmane) buys gold from people for coins and where you sell gold for coins back to players. Here's an example of how the system is going to benefit you.
You Buy Gold For ---> You sell Gold For (C) ---> Server Benefit (G) ---> Server Benefit Benefit (C)
1800 ---> 1200 ---> 600 ---> 1/3
3600 ---> 2400 ---> 1200 ---> 2/3
5400 ---> 3600 ---> 1800 ---> 1 Coin
.................................................. ...........................
41,400 ---> 27,600 ---> 13,800 ---> 7,66 coins
This would by far be the most effective gold / coin sink in the game and will give the players a sense of certainty that said gold they have will a) remain and b) sell for that exact amount of coins instantly.
Furthermore, you can manipulate the gold to coin prices to create things like events where it is discounted or, alternatively, adjust it higher if the gold in the server is getting out of hand, effectively preventing it from getting out of hand.
2) MAKE SCROLLS OF DECEPTION PURCHASABLE FOR GOLD
A price of 10,000 per scroll sounds reasonable. Also make the scrolls destroy the item they are taking the appearance of to prevent people making rapid decisions and having 20,000 sets they switch between. Make the items the grind, not the scrolls.
Okay. Let the "NOFUKU*****NOTGONNAHAPPEN" begin.
