Weapon Skill in Bear/Cat Forms

My druid is lvl 34 currently on Outland, and i noticed today that my 2hMace weapon skill was sitting at 65/180. I wasn't earning weapon skill points when in Cat form. Oddly enough, i was earning points in Travel form...

Someone in-game stated that Bear and Cat forms are not affected by weapon skill points. Is this true? Can I techinically have a skill of like 1/300 in Staves, for example, and still attack as if it was maxed out (for my level)?

confirmed. Weapon skill in cat/bear form does not affect your probability to hit. Btw, dps of your weapon will not affect your dps while in cat/bear; you only equip a weapon for the bonus stats.

TY. That was my assumption. So i guess even a 1h mace with a held offhand could be better so long as they give the most stats.
