Weaponsmith/axesmith

I recently did the quest that was offered from the Npc to get the weponsmith rpoficency delivered it (had already gotten my weaponsmith from ironforge) and still couldnt learn it, i asked people on the server that had done the quest perfectly and im wondering what did i do wrong.. I dont think its a bug thus i dont open thread in bugtracker ! Anyone can suggest somthing ?

diclaimer i havent done the quest : The way of Weaponsmith, do i have to do it in order to get the axesmith mastery ?

If i remember correctly u have to go to winterspring and do way of the weaponsmith and then choose axe or mace or sword quest
