Hello, strange problem i experienced just few minutes ago. I noticed inactivity cleanup so i decided to check for a few names. Nice, one which I wanted is not taken. Okay, purchased rename but game says name unavailable. (I check them from armory, not only on icecrown but across all realms there isnt such a name for a character)
Maybe someone else took it, deleted the char and is now waiting 30 days to take it for their main.
Aha. Makes sense. Gotta hate the people making 1 level character with cool name and not playing it at all.
Also, if it's a short name like 2 letters it doesn't show up in search of armory like http://armory.warmane.com/search/Ab shows nothing, but there's Ab on Icecrown , Ab on Blackrock and even Ab on Lordaeron
