Staff got big backlash, because real life coronavirus and how distateful people thought it was. Not to mention the bugs they caused with addons and northrend flying. Would be cooler to Martins Fury or drop 2 Lich kings casting fury of frostmoune to keep people from dalaran.

I wasn't online to witness this miracle. What was it about?

Nothing really. All players had a "You're infected" debuff, that does nothing besides you glow gren.

I thought it was something similar to when wotlk launched where ppl would turn into ghouls unless cleansed and could infect others
