Why is arena rating calculated like this?

You can see that we are ~1750 and lose same points as the 2k+ teams gain

what is wrong with this?

Higher rated teams are supposed to gain less when winning versus much lower rated teams, and lower rated teams shouldn't lose as much from much higher rated teams
