Bans are never handed out without proof. If you were banned for ninja looting you did it.

Another thing are the BoE's. Only if you're to equip it as an upgrade (and it's for the role you joined in as) you can roll NEED on it. Be sure to equip it though, as somebody might be THAT guy, because he has seen people NEED BoE's and never equipping.
The rules are against rolling NEED for OS, other players might "allow it", but one of them might report you anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The NEED rolling for OS is like smoking weed in some states/countries where it's illegal: People might say they are OK with it, but if somebody rats you out to the police, you'll face consequences.
