I always thought mm was better on icc release (playn on frostmourne).
But yd I heard someone say sv is actually doing more dmg on bosses where u can always place traps easily... is this true?

Survival probably still outscales MM until the Hunter equips enough ARP passively, but maybe MM Trap Spec might outperform SV with just a bit of ARP, ~450+ or so, since that's when Arcane Shot starts dealing less than Steady Shot and you drop it from rotation completely in MM. It's probably hard to say since it's right on the cusp of MM outscaling SV since ARP becomes more available.
Realistically you can probably play both, test them and see how they perform.
A big role also plays the boss and your positioning. Some bosses allows you to freely trapdance while others not. Some bosses have adds while others are pure single target. So it's not only about gear and spec. Personally, I have dual spec and change it depending on which boss I'm fighting.
