Cross realm is enforced, mercenary mode can be toggled on and off here: https://www.warmane.com/account/settings and you can change your XP right by right clicking the experience bar in-game. That's about it.
Mercenary mode can also be changed in-game by queueing to a BG, using /reload, and then right-clicking the BG queue button next to the minimap.
