I hope! Can be great to have latest graphics engine and optimized games
And of course the population of Warmane (I mean Icecrown) will not change.
The X1 server is way too long...
And for more Warmane did an amazing job with events, new seasons, dungeon finder (haha) ect, that's why he's still alive for so long
WOLTK classic will die like other classic expansions in 2-3 years ;)
WARMANE FTW <3 (i just hope it's not gonna be down by blizzard..)
I think the chances that Warmane is forced to close their WotLK servers will be bigger :(
x64 client let's gooo! The old one is kinda weird on windows 10.
Yeah, good luck with that xD This isn't some cringe nostalrius situation, man. Warmane is like TPB - it might become less popular and a bit dusty over the next decade but it will still be online.
And what about classic anyway? WotLK will come and go and what are they gonna do next? classic cata, classic WoD or BFA? lol...
I think they'll do Classic Cata and MoP. It's not about "classic" anymore just progression. Classic TBC defeated the purpose of Classic in the first place and effectively killed Classic for a second time. People just want to raid with the gameplay of the current expansion.
Let's not act though as if the no rdf thing will be permanent for now, activision can always walk back on that decision,or make it last phase only(aka 3.3,as it was on live).
An updated client would be really nice, but did any of the private servers snatch the vanilla/tbc ones(not looking for names)? Afaik no,so who knows.
And,the classic era of WoW ends with WotLK,cata and later are fundamentally different(even though cata tried to go back to its roots with some of its harder content).
They already said it wont be coming, even when patch that introduced rdf goes live. Their reason behind that is they want players to explore more, more social activities
Yeah, just like every time Ion says they're not gonna touch the current borrowed power system in place, and they end up doing just that, halfway through the expansion, because the initial design and plans are always ****.
RDF was the most welcomed addition to the game during wrath along dual talents. So wait and see. Unless they want to lose a nice chunk of the playerbase(which is always an option). On most site forums and actiblizzard forums the ****storm is already brewing.
They could also just make 1-2 specific realms where rdf is permanently turned off for the special snowflakes that enjoy spamming LFG for an hour+,travel 30 mins to the summ stone just to wait 30 more to somebody to arrive and start summons and then start spamming for replacements bc one guy is afk and another one has to go.
^This.
Honestly, some people mock JRB for his infamous "You think you do, but you don't" statement. While he was wrong to assume that people wouldn't want to relive old expansions (mby cuz some old design choices are better than those in the newer expansions), he was absolutely spot on with his opinion that people love QoL changes.
Iirc, there were 2 banned addons at the start of WoW Classic, and one of them was a community-made rdf one. This shows that there's demand for it.
I'm sorry, but I wouldn't call spamming "need a tank for {instance name}" for several minutes a prime example of peak social interaction. It's just one or more guys advertising a run with the hope of attacting the needed role. As we all know, few players cover the vital roles, i.e. tank and healer. If no one's available at a certain time, people can spam all they want - no one will respond.
The rdf system offers the benefit of people actually doing something in the background - farming mats and questing - while waiting patiently for the queue to pop up. I personally see it as a good thing. Like, I'm not going to become friends with some random guys who randomly whispered me. I just need people to clear an instance and that's pretty much it.
[edit] While I can't say with certainty that Blizzard will add the rdf system again, I just can't buy statements that spamming lfg is a social activity.
Both on classic and TBC classic people would still use addons to form groups. The addon would automaticlally send a LFG message on global every few seconds, and if you had the addon it would show a list of all available groups. It was RDF with extra steps, but it also gave the party leader control over who would join the group. People who picked the "wrong" class would have a hard time joining a group (glad I was a warlock).
WotLK heroics are much easier than TBC heroics, so there will be no need to be picky when forming a group. I can't think how disabling RDF on WotLK DGs would be benefitial.
