Battleground Queue Times

I've been having lots of fun on warmane so far. I just got level 80 and I thought I'd try to farm some honor gear but unfortunately I get around 40 minute queue times if not longer. And when it pops I get these weird BGs that are usually 5v5 warsong gultch only, and they usually end early because there's not enough players.

I don't understand what's going on because it seems like there's a massive playerbase on the server. Are people just not that interested in PvP? Thanks for any replies

I heard something about BGs grouping people up with gearscore, I think that might be what's going on here.
