I'm not an expert on warlocks, but my initial response is - it depends on the patch phase. Are you playing on Icecrown/Lordearon or on Frostmourne?
Regardless what you say, Demolock is always the first warlock to fill a raid spot because it provides a raid-wide SP buff. Since the buff doesn't stack, only one demolock is needed.
In Naxx and in Ulduar (dunno about ToC and ICC), Affli comes next, as it deals a lot of damage in those phases. Some affli warlocks even manage to reach 9k+ dps on Patchwerk with Naxx gear and with Power Infusion.
Still, this is an opinion of someone, who hasn't mained this spec. It would be better if you wait for someone, who has played it more than me.

Up to around 6k GS, Destro deals the highest DMG. After that is Demo and at BiS is Affl!
Always demo is needed in a raid, once that role is being filled, it is either affi or destro, with affi being PREFERRED slightly more only in a try-hard environment, while destro is more suitable for newbies, especiallly if not BiS.Quote:

Pretty old post to reply to, but it is indexing in google search. I guess to be more specific here, ppl still wonder why exactly Demo? I'm personalty playing Destro+imp since it is much more fun and still can put summoning stone, supporting with soul stones & keep up Curse of the Elements/Curse of Tongues. But having Demonic Pact talent from Demo build in raid is much more preferable since warlock itself isn't the top dps class regardless of build due to lack of stat scaling in all builds. I'm not pro veteran warlock player and not exactly sure, but to me it feels while Destro goes with Imp, Demo works with Felguard same as Fel Hunter well. So for Demo Fel Intelligence given by Fel Hunter is good combo, especially if warlock is low. In the end of a day overall with basic calculations it is almost same as if you have +1 more average dps in 25 raid. Still I've saw bis demo doing over 20k on average when "stars colliding" on all procs & timings.
Btw I've noticed it is only class that sometimes no one give a sh1t about his GS, it is just enough to be lvl 80 Demo+fel hunter with full bags of Soul Shards, not wiping boss fights & not slacking on TV. (This way I personally got my KS10 like that being something like 3kgs in pug)
From my experience as @Baelfrog said, it is almost correct. If you want to just have selfish satisfaction of damage & rotation while under 5.8kgs, you go Destro, some ppl may not take to an account Destro have clean burst type dps which rotation have it's start & it's end and includes much instants, so constant GCDs between cycles while not casting allowing him to use this time & move around freely not loosing dps. While Demo is almost stationary. In this matter Affliction is almost same as Demo. But talking about Affliction, I'm not sure here... as far as I've tried it, it is the worst build in dps if you have less then 1200 haste. More then that, it feels like even if you will be BIS & go full haste you will still have not enough of it.
