Possible to recover 'cleaned up' characters?

I was wondering if it's possible to recover characters from recent (and not-so-recent) clean-ups.
I have 5 accounts (excluding one which I cannot access because of Yahoo mail), and each of them were full with characters.
Bief is gone, and all his alts. What a terrible shame. This happened to me on retail, and I was sad...
It happened again on Molten, again I was sad...
It's happened twice now on Warmane, and I'm...not sad. I think deep down I expected it.
My laptop crashed hard, had to totally wipe HD and start over, and I was homeless for a time...lots has happened since I last played,
But here I am, and only some of the low-level trash alts I made (mostly for funny names) actually remain.

Please tell me I can get my characters and their guilds and vast collection of virtual junk back.

If not, that's alright. I love this game, and Warmane, but sometimes we have to move on.

No, it isn't. It takes very little to keep an account's characters safe from clean ups: one donation, being above level 30 or simply logging in roughly once a year. Not all three, just one of them, which is very very little to expect. Once a character is removed due to inactivity, it's gone for good.

Well, for what it's worth, I had at least 3 or 4 level 80s.
And my poor DK had just reached 80 and was starting to gear up.
Oh well, it's like one of those Tibetan monks' sand paintings, takes years to paint and with one swipe it's gone.
Maybe I'll try to start over, perhaps in the 19 twink bracket.
As for now, I'm bummed but not surprised.
Virtual loss is not really a loss at all. I had fun all those years, met plenty of nice players and a great many random weirdos. Good times.
Yet another traveller's tundra mammoth down the tubes, but it was useful while it lasted. Got no one to sit on it now anyway but that shady goblin.
BTW I always wanted to donate, but can't afford it. Real life is busy crushing my scrotum, brain, and heart into submission. I'm sorry we can't all have expendable cash laying around.
I'll be back OFC, just to keep the population from dwindling any further. I can't play all day every day as I once did for many many years, but I'll give it a solid effort to put those level 19 or 39 twinks in their place.
If not, I'm sure none of the people I used to play with are around anymore anyway, and no one will miss a random cow.

I don't think characters like that would have been affected, in any clean up, beyond losing their names.
So if they are gone, this would be a case of account security. Someone breaking into your account or it being shared, likely stealing everything of worth and then deleting what was left. I'm going to assume you never activated 2-step authentication.

Sadly, you are correct. I have no cell phone to do 2-step with, so I neglected it. My first set of 80s was rightly deleted since I hadn't played for 5+ years.
I came back and played for another 6+ years before it happened again. I will go change all my account passwords pronto, and try my hand with the few scraggly alts I have left. I will miss Bief / TheRealBief the most, I had him fairly well geared and lots of trophy junk. I had 5 guild vaults loaded with stuff, that's what I'll miss the most. I had finally all professions maxxed among my toons except for engineering and mining. This, however, is not my first rodeo. As I stated previously, I lost everything with the Molten melt-down, and twice now on Warmane. I'm not griping here, just curious now about my account security. :)
I hope clean-up got me and not a hacker. I don't know anyone IRL who plays WoW at all, and there's no way I'd willingly share my accounts.
I hope others can learn from this experience as well.

Yeah, well "duh".
Being homeless with no PC or internet was also my problem. Life is full of problems. What's yours?
Thanks for stating the obvious anyway, maybe it will help someone to whom it is not obvious.
