Devilsaur pet delays attack

My level 70 BM hunter tamed a devilsaur from ungoro and skilled him out with dash/charge, etc. Unlike my other pets, when the devilsaur is set to defensive (and I attack a mob) or I directly command it to attack a mob, it will sit there doing nothing for several seconds.

Eventually it will attack but the delay is unusual. My other pets (boar, raptor, wolf) do not exhibit this behavior -- they immediately charge the mob as directed. Is this typical behavior for the devilsaur pet? Thank you.
