Lordaeron - opt-in/out from battlegroup

Hi,

Was it ever put up as topic to make Lordaeron players have option to opt-in/out of the battlegroup with Icecrown and Blackrock? Like opt-in to play on that battlegroup or opt-out to play only battlegrounds/arenas vs. players from Lordaeron?

Maybe put up a vote for the Lordaeron players?

Honestly, I am thinking quite a long time to start on Lordaeron but the fact that I will be playing versus players with way better gear each time is putting me off. And please don't tell me that there is something working so that the item level is taken into consideration when compiling the players for a battleground, because it's not like that in reality. Arena is not worth mentioning.

I would like to hear the thoughts from everyone.

1. Such system with gear brackets do work. Its conditions are undisclosed to prevent people from stacking best gear, neither it takes average gear value to prevent guys in bad gear with few 284 items being dominant.

2. You would face players with better gear regardless, because Lordaeron is old and there are lots of players who got what they wanted. Or you gonna demand that their gear will be deleted?

In short, what you are asking for won't happen, and even if it becomes reality - you wouldn't play PvP for same reason: players have better gear than you.
Not to mention that "suggestions" to change existing realms are against forum rules.

1. Then in my experience it does not work as intended as I am getting players in my team that complain or fighting against players with 17k hp and two-shotting them in battlegrounds. Arena is whole another story. I create a new fresh character on Blackrock, que up in 2s with my friend and in an instant we pop the que and we get 1900 mmr teams to play against. What I am trying to say is that when I hit level 80 on Lordaeron and que up for arenas with some deadly, furious gear I would fight against way better players, least fresh characters from Blackrock. Your badge as "forum veteran" gives me the impression that you are not part of Warmane staff, how are you so sure that it is not the average gear value that is part how the system works?

2. You are contradicting yourself with your point from point 1 above. You say that there is some bracket system that is compiling the battlegrounds so that there are even players, here you are saying the opposite. I am not demanding anything at all.

In short, it is only your sole opinion to think that it will not happen. The reason you are giving is invalid. And your mention that ""suggestions" to change existing realms are against forum rules" is wrong on many levels:
1. A functionality has been added to opt-in/out of said "mercenary mode" where you can play in the team of the opposite faction.
2. A functionality has been added to be able to fly at 310% speed with all your flying mounts that are 280% if you have one mount that can fly at 310% speed?
3. A functionality has been added to be able to compile groups in the random dungeon finder with members of the opposing faction.
4. The whole section of the forum is called "SUGGESTIONS & CHANGES" - I don't see your point here at all.

All of the questions above are rhetorical, i.e. they are not to be answered by you. You stated your opinion on the matter. Please let others comment.

mixing all realms in bg was a terrible idea and you can make a poll if people want it removed, you wouldnt because you already know the answer

Doesn't sound like it would harm anyone. Unless there is a significant downside to this proposal I might be missing?

it's not a very good idea, not even a good idea to share the bg with the other realms, because they come with almost full GS, while here on Icecrown, those with a lower GS also enter the bg, it's not ok at all, if they want bg to make their own on realm or make their characters on Icecrown, it's totally unfair. when I enter the bg and see another realm and see that we have gs 3k-4k.. I immediately exit the game. I hope that this problem will be solved as soon as possible.

As someone who's a lordaeron no-lifer with ingrained memories of what it took to get full BiS, I'd want to hammer the OP's suggestion home.
The way things are, every realm gets hurt but naturally Lordaeron the most.
One will not fathom the effort it takes to even get on a competitive level with IC/BR players on Lord without doing it themselves.

The (justifiably-so) enclosed elitist guilds&cliques within them, the absolute sewage that makes for the pvp gearing, faster enrages. -30% performance in ICC all make it absolutely nauseating to gear up. The bosses are tweaked too, and I ain't buying the usual "but they were nerfed from the original Lordaeron standpoint!", as that's in place to make up for the bis people that carry guilds and make things trivial.

Only the veterans, people with a !@#$-ton of gold or pug-hosts get anywhere near decent gear.

Going by puristic free to play, on Icecrown I was able to get BiS within 2 months, on Lordaeron it took over a year for a single SM-wielding character.
While me, this guy and the next out of a pool of 100 can reach 1,6-1,8 instantly with, say, a 4k gs unholy dk + green 13k prot paladin, most people are hard-stuck before those tresholds because they have 30% less stats in their 25nm gear.
Outliers only prove a pattern, go and actually PLAY Lordaeron, inspect around and see people's statistics.
I also have 6 BiS chars on Blackrock and constantly experiment with new specs, which forces me to grind the oh-so-unfairly-low 25-62k honor a 284 piece.

Warmane won't even compensate Lordaeron with doubled arena points, so we can at the very least have more time to slave at 4h raid times twice to thrice a week only to log off with all the hogged gear which in fact we'll never utilize due to the time it took to get it.

Cross-realm with a Lordaeron inclusion is a joke, and it should've been disabled the moment the population stabilized.
Warmane has incredible potential with everything else, but I sure as hell haven't seen anything more pay to win than this and Molten.

Are any mods even checking this section at all? Or we are left with the "forum veteran" normies?

before crossrealm pvp in Lordaeron has always been dead, people were choosing to play on icecrown for pvp anyway back then. the players who stay on lordaeron were crying low pop pvp issues like these.
