Need Advice on Optimal Class and Spec for Solo PvE and Casual PvP

Hello there,

I recently returned to WoW after a long hiatus and decided to give Warmane a try. I am really enjoying the experience so far but find myself at a crossroads and could use some guidance from the veterans here.

I am primarily a solo player who enjoys PvE content like questing, farming, and occasional dungeon runs. However, I also dabble in casual PvP, mainly for fun rather than being super competitive. Given these preferences, I am looking for a class and spec th;at would provide a good balance between these activities.

Since I often play solo; I need a class that can handle itself well in the open world; including dealing with multiple m;obs and surviving unexpected PvP encounters.;

I am not looking f;or something overly complex. A class with a relatively straightforward rotation would be ideal, as I'm still re-familiarizing myself with the game mechanics.

I want a class that feels enjoyable to play both in PvE and PvP. This is; of course; subjective; but any insights on what you personally find fun would be appreciated.

While I am not aiming to be a top-tier PvPer, I would like a class that can hold its own in battlegrounds and occasional world PvP encounters.

I have considered classes like Hunter and Paladin, but I am open to any suggestions. Your personal experiences, pros and cons, and any advice on specific specs would be immensely helpful.

Shadow priest: might seem overly complex, but remember you heal yourself when you're doing damage. When I tried other caster classes I realised how tanky spriest is even though it only had 1.1k resi. Must have been the constant shields I could put up, and how my dps heals me too. Plus I don't even need to face my enemies for a lot of my spells.

Any druid spec should be good enough for escaping even if you're not good at pvp. Remember they can also stealth and use instant flight form.

Prot/ret/preg paladins are nice and easy for surviving sure, but what if you can't shake enemies off? Then you'll have to fight them. Not sure if you're okay with that.

Hunters are good at avoiding an ambush and doing the ambushing because you can see humanoids on your minimap, but it has probably the most amount of spells right next to shamans. I don't know if that suits you because you were looking for straightforward. BM hunters are definitely straightforward though.

Rogues: You're snooping all the time so it's safe, and if you can't kill em, you can always cc them before running away.

Mages: A lot of cc. It's very easy to just try to waste enemy cooldowns by playing smart, then you can just cc them one last time so you can run.

Affliction warlocks: If you have a lot of resilience and HP it's nice. If you get dotted up in the air you can keep flying because with fel armor you regenerate a lot of HP even doing nothing.

Warriors: It's quite a balanced class, it's just that you can't really cc people to run away, so the fights only end when one of you is dead.

Feral druid: Stealth to win, travel form if you lose.

My advice is to play a class you genuinely enjoy. Once you master a class you love, the game becomes much more enjoyable. Remember, every class has its pros and cons.

While others may suggest classes like rogue, paladin, death knight, warrior, hunter, or warlock, and some might criticize certain classes based on their own experiences, the key is to choose what you love.

If you don't enjoy it, create another character. This way, if you ever get bored, you'll have other characters to switch to and keep the game fresh and exciting.

Blood DK is a great solo build. Learn to tank and with the right build you can solo most HC dungeons if you have the patience.

And it's pretty good in PvP as well (although I recommend unholy for that)

Go tank and you'll rarely wait in q for rdf
It seriously is high on survivability, self heals, magic damage encounters. Has some ranged attacks that help on certain pieces of content.
Combine with engineering and you'll really have fun.
