Suggestion for Reducing LFG Queue Times

Hello Warmanians,

We are all aware of the issue with the current LFG systems que times. As a healer, I've spent over 30 minutes in the queue looking for a group, which feels excessive, especially since I enjoy running dungeons to level up and get more accustomed to the healer role for endgame content. I can't imagine what DPS players go through with even longer wait times.

This post isn't about calling for more tanks or offering additional rewards for queuing. Instead, I'd like to propose an option for players who are confident enough to tackle dungeons with 1 healer and 4 DPS, or even more daringly, 5 DPS groups. As a healer, I'm confident in my ability to keep 4 DPS alive through dungeons, and I believe others might be interested in similar setups.

I hope the team considers implementing this option, as it could significantly reduce queue times and enhance the overall experience for players like me.

My proposal is about adding an official option within the LFG system itself. This would allow players to queue for dungeons with alternative group compositions, such as 1 healer and 4 DPS or even 5 DPS, without having to manually form the group.

The current LFG system automatically seeks the traditional 1 tank, 1 healer, and 3 DPS setup, which leads to long queue times. My suggestion is to provide an option within the LFG interface for players who are confident in their abilities to handle dungeons with unconventional group compositions, making que times a lot shorter.

I hope this clarifies my initial proposal.

I wouldn't give it two minutes after something like this is introduced for us to begin getting complains that Healers who can't carry four DDs are using the option to get a faster queue and wasting everyone's time.

If the group deems the healer unfit to handle the task, they always have the option to initiate a vote to kick. Additionally, players should understand that queuing into a group with 4 DPS requires a knowledgeable and experienced healer to fill that role. This option should attract those who are confident in their abilities and understand the challenges of such a composition. DPS players should also acknowledge that the dungeon may be more difficult to complete without a tank. This is a player choice for going into an unconventional composition, and no one is forcing them to use this feature.

Wait, so not only you're expecting a custom way to queue for RDF, but also a whole separate UI from the regular one where DDs queue specifically to go with no Tanks? All for the fringe cases of Healers who can truly competently carry four DDs, but who don't want to just form a premade group?

Not that there being a separate UI would solve anything about Healers who can't handle it still trying, failing, and wasting four people's time.

I believe there might be a misunderstanding. I’m proposing just two small changes to the current UI, not a whole separate system. I suggested adding two checkboxes above the tank and healer roles in the Random Dungeon Finder (RDF) interface. This would give players the option to form groups with others who are also willing to tackle dungeons without a tank, healer, or both. The idea is to enhance the existing RDF system to allow for these alternative group compositions, so players can still benefit from dungeon rewards and faster leveling while using RDF. Yes, I saw the image. How would DDs opt-out of going without a Tank? By clicking the Tank box? How are people supposed to learn about that in-game? And how would you solve the issue I mentioned twice, which you just brushed aside with a paragraph that does nothing to address it?

To clarify, I'm not proposing a completely separate UI. Instead, my suggestion is to add checkboxes to the existing RDF interface, allowing players to indicate their willingness to join groups with unconventional compositions, such as those without a tank or healer.

To opt out of joining groups without a tank, players could simply leave the tank checkbox unchecked, ensuring they only join groups with a tank included. The text that appears when hovering over the checkbox could say, "By checking this, you agree you may be placed in a group without a healer/tank," ensuring clarity about what players are opting into.

No system can guarantee perfect outcomes, these changes just aim to give players more control over their group compositions and reduce wait times.

Player choice.

You can't propose a change like this, be presented flaws, issues and complications, and reply to the concerns with just "player choice to use it."

Could you elaborate on how time could be wasted? Are you referring to potential dungeon failures due to unconventional group compositions? I would assume that any WoW player, especially on Warmane, opting into these group setups would be aware of the risks and challenges that come with groups of 1 healer 4 DPS, or 5 DPS.

And again, if the party deems someone unfit for the composition there's always vote to kick.

And 1 tank 4 DPS, I keep leaving that composition out unintentionally :P
