Macro Help needed

Hi guys, I cant seem to find a topic anywhere on this topic.
Does the @player and @cursor targeting for AOE abilities work in this wow version? I can't get it to work and I was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

#showtooltip Flare
/cast @Player Flare

That does not work for 3.3.5. You'd have to mouse broadcast to use AoE as mb.
