Questions about what to do ( new player)

I'm new to WoW and I want to understand a little bit of the meaning of the game. I gave the game a chance because I see a lot of people saying that it's a highly addictive and fun game, but so far (level 26) I'm finding it very monotonous, boring and lacking what to do, I just do quests, and pull some dungeons to get some better items. I wanted to know what makes people love this game so much, playing for hours, creating several characters (for me there doesn't seem to be a significant change in the style of play between the different classes and races, they just change the skills and the types of items they use, but to me it seems that the leveling and everything else is the same thing). This is not a criticism, it's just a question of mine, I really want to understand this game and have as much fun as these people.

Tbh, some people love the levelling experience, combined with the world building and exploring, whiles others prefer the end-game content and doing 25-man raids with a guild. The vast majority of people seem to play right now because they did as a kid / back-in-the-day. Mastering your class and role is why I enjoy it; gives you a sense of identity and community.

WoW can def be boring and a grind, yet people enjoy the challenge it brings, and the satisfaction of getting to max level / max gear.

It depends from person to person, some people like it and some people don't, maybe you're used to enjoy other type of games.

Regarding differences to classes, if you boil it to basics, it's all the same. Use skills in certain order to achieve better damage. Do note it's an old game, so it may lack complexity of more modern games. Also leveling doesn't give good/proper example how the classes work at max level. It's like you're given pieces of a puzzle, but not all of them. You can make out what the picture more or less looks like, but the missing pieces that ties in the whole picture comes at higher levels. Either through new learnable skills, talents, or glyphs, or through mobs that don't die to few skills.
