That is account security to try and prevent account Theft. If your struggling with the Email try using the Google Authenticator from your Phone.
I personally dont think the GM's will remove it due to the amount of 'Stolen" accounts. Better get used to it
It's not going to be disabled, as has been stated more times than it should need to be.
